Come and explore the woods with your 1,2,3 and 4 year olds and become 'Children of the Forest'!
Little Acorns groups are every Wednesday or Friday morning during term time, 9.45-11.30am. The sessions are for children who are mobile up to the age of 4, with their parents / carers. Booking is essential; we book in half termly blocks. Each session will involve a main activity, games, free play, stories and song and lots of fun!
The sessions all have a start time but will spend the first 10-15 minutes allowing children to arrive and explore the woods with their adults. Then a main activity, story, game or other activity will be introduced. The children may wish to take part, or continue with their own projects. As a child led programme, we encourage parents to let their children decide which activities to take part in.
Please bring any snacks and drinks that your child might want. Babies in slings are welcome at no extra cost.
Mighty Oaks runs every Saturday during term time, 10-12pm for children ages 6-12 to make new friends, play games and practice new skills. Booking is essential; we book in half termly blocks.
Each week the children help the leaders design their session as a group, with activities such as: den building, fire lighting, woodworking, knife skills, treasure hunts, team games, animal tracking. As well as plenty of time to explore the rope swings and climbable trees!
We hope that you’ll come along to as many of the weekly sessions as possible, so that you get to know each other, form friendships and grow as a community.
Coming as much as possible not only helps children form relationships gently but also helps us deliver one of the key principles of Forest School learning: Child-led planning.
Because our leaders all make and share observations each week, which then inform what we plan for the following week, we ask for as much notice as possible if you aren’t able to make a session.
Our large waiting list also means that children who miss two consecutive sessions without valid reason (principally illness) could forfeit their place in the Group.
