Forest School Leader Training – Level 3

This is Forest School leader training for people who want to immerse themselves fully and come away changed.

Rather than spreading the ten days of training across a year, this course runs as two concentrated weeks: one in the Easter holidays and one at the very start of the summer. You arrive, you go deep, and you leave with your head full of ideas, your notebook full of questions, and a cohort of people you have spent real time with in the woods.

The format works especially well for people travelling from further afield. Both weeks give you the option to stay locally, spend your evenings talking about the day's learning, and really let it land. A week at a time, fully present, with nowhere else to be.

Every Level 3 Forest School course in the country will cover the bushcraft basics, and ours is no different. Where we put particular energy is in creating time and space for the deeper conversations about Forest School ethos and pedagogy. Forest School is a unique and wonderful way of being with people in nature, a philosophy that facilitators carry with them wherever they go. The intensive format lends itself well to that kind of thinking. Spending whole days and evenings with the same group of people, in the same woodland, gives those conversations room to go somewhere.

The course covers how to facilitate groups in a genuinely learner-centred way, how to care for and manage a Forest School site sustainably, and all of the practical skills required of a qualified Forest School Leader. For full course information, visit our prospectus page.

Training dates:

Week 1: Monday 5th to Friday 9th April 2027 (Easter holidays)

Week 2: Monday 26th to Friday 30th July 2027 (start of summer holidays)

All sessions run 9.30am to 4pm.

Additional coursework support and non-practical sessions are delivered over Zoom, in the evenings at times agreed by the group.

You will need to be able to attend all 10 days.

We also run a year-long version of this course on Sundays from September 2026 to July 2027, ten sessions woven through autumn, winter, spring, and early summer, with plenty of time between each day to reflect, experiment, and come back with questions.
